Become a Better Negotiator
Pittsburgh - December 12th - Duquesne Club -- Click our Register Button above
Negotiations – whether a pre-trial settlement, large business transaction, a small matter, or even convincing your client that a deal is really good for them – can be difficult and tension-filled. Would making that one more concession close the deal or simply be another giveaway? Are you wondering what your opponent (or client) isn’t telling you? Do you really have to settle and avoid litigation that you cannot win? Is the other party hiding a true agenda? Do you feel that you are not the opponent’s equal? Do you feel you are being bullied? Have you just made a deal and wondered if you could have received more or given less? The best way to make better deals and feel confident with your work is to improve your negotiating skills. Skilled negotiators get what they want faster and more easily, and often from inferior bargaining positions.
There is a tool that can help you achieve better results – a tool that provides personal insights to the negotiating process that will not only help you achieve better results, but keep you from negotiating from a position of stress.
The tool is the Birkman Profile®. The Birkman Profile® provides insight to:
• the typical goals you will have in negotiating agreements • your most effective, natural negotiating style • the type of negotiating environment you prefer • the tactics that most likely will put you under stress
The Birkman Profile®, which every participant must complete as part of this course, has the unique ability to measure the participant’s behavior from multiple perspectives. Fifty years of experience has proven that our usual behavior and needs are not generally alike, and inferring that they are the same can cost you bargaining power. As part of this training, you will learn to understand and manage your behavior, and you will also be able to recognize signals from your clients and opponents that indicate things are heading off track. The cost for this course is $400 per participant. This is approved for four hours substantive credit in Pennsylvania. Registration deadline is Thursday, December 7th at noon.
